Zero Day
As UFO’s descend from the sky, a young boy witnesses the beginning of the end of his world.
"Mom, what's that?" Jace questioned, gazing out of the living room window.
"What do you mean, Jace?" His mom replied with a dismissive tone, engrossed in food preparation.
He pointed skyward. "There's something strange up there."
"It's just a plane, honey. You've seen plenty of those before."
"I've never seen a plane like this, Mom. It has no wings."
"What do you mean, no wings..." She responded, her tone shifting to shock as she joined him in looking out the window.
The Beginning of the End
On April 1st, 2024 the first global assault on humanity began.
The visitors started in very small countries around the world, gradually increasing the size of the country they destroyed.
This unfortunate circumstance, just happened to give larger nations time to develop defenses around the major cities across the globe.
But it wasn’t fast enough. The lack of a uniformed global military force, allowed the visitors to continue to destroy the world strategically & systematically. Spreading each nations military forces thin and attacking their weakest spots with aerial and weaponry advantages.
By May 1st, 2024, the nuclear powers were forced to decide whether or not to unleash their nuclear arsenals. The human population had continued to drop drastically.
More human lives & cities would be sacrificed in the process, but humanity as a whole was days, possibly hours, away from total annihilation.
Only moments before the button was pressed did they show up.
Gods are real?!
No one would believe it if there weren’t survivors witnessing it right in front of their eyes. The Greek Pantheon descended from the heavens, & they weren’t alone.
The major Norse, Egyptian, & Hindu Gods and more began descending as well, and they began to engage with the visitors.
The powers we learned about in mythology classes were being displayed, and more that we had no idea about. Zeus of course made his presence known first as the skies turned dark, thunder and lightning began roaring as if they were alive! Shiva & others joined as well, the visitors weren’t prepared, I mean how could they be?
These were actual gods, who the humans of this time only knew as myths and fairytales.
Their abilities were breath taking. Some could fly, some moved super fast, some could control natural elements and phenomena.There were even a select few that could manipulate visitors by simple contact. But there was one universal truth, they were STRONG.
It wasn’t long until the visitors realized that they were fighting a losing battle. The visitors were much stronger and faster than average humans and their technology far surpassed what humanity was capable of, but there was nothing that could have prepared them for the descension of the gods.
Following a month of global destruction and the ongoing annihilation of two-thirds of the population, humanity had survived its first alien invasion. Along with that they and also had witnessed their mythical gods in action. The world & the people of earth would never be the same.
What Happened Next?
Though the world faced irreversible damages, humanity still had the capability of mass communications across large distances through the use of the remaining satellites and cell towers. The visitors were focused on wiping out the population of earth through brute force and domination, however if they lacked hubris they would have been successful in their attempts to conquer earth by strategically cutting of their communication methods first.
Families worldwide, grappling with the heartache of losing their loved ones, sought connection. Flipping through whatever news station they could find, they came to a shared realization—it wasn't just their pain. The hurt and devastation were echoing across the globe. In that moment, the differences in race and religion seemed so trivial, almost pointless.
A month following the invasion, surviving government leaders globally convened to share their observations and pool information about the events unfolding in their respective nations. Foremost on their agenda was the urgent establishment of a unified global government, recognizing that the absence of seamless worldwide communication played a pivotal role in the perilous decline of humanity.
Key points of discussion included:
The emergence of diverse deities corresponding to geographical locations, likely tied to the prevalence of worship in specific regions.
Contemplation on the future course of action for a global defense system, acknowledging that national borders had become obsolete in the face of widespread human losses.
Strategizing on how to recuperate from the extensive damages and address the significant population decrease experienced worldwide.
However, on June 1st, an immense surge of magnetic energy enveloped the globe. By June 5th, peculiar tattoo-like markings materialized randomly on individuals worldwide. While merely a third of the population bore these enigmatic symbols, the remaining majority underwent a compelling physical transformation at the genetic level.
This transformed faction swiftly ascended to the summit of Earth's natural hierarchy, surpassing the skin toughness of Crocodiles, Elephants, and Rhinos. The augmentation extended beyond mere resilience; they acquired unparalleled speed and strength, reigning supreme as the fastest entities on the planet's surface.
In the aftermath of this colossal human metamorphosis, the world witnessed a profound shift. Emerging as apex predators, they abandoned the need for conventional weapons, becoming living embodiments of formidable power. Even the more passive among them no longer required the protection of the strong and capable.
They evolved into their own bastions of defense. With a diminishing fear of mortality and a nonchalant attitude towards the sanctity of life, Earth underwent an unprecedented and transformative alteration.
Life on earth would never be the same.
